[Food] Kim Leng Cafe, Batu Pahat, Johor

It is hardly to find those 70's or 80's old-style coffee shop in Malaysia nowadays that serve the simple and "authentic" taste of cake and coffee.

Driving down from Kuala Lumpur to Batu Pahat, Johor (about 3.5 hours), you will find this classic cafe - Kim Leng cafe at this small town.

Kim Leng Cafe, a traditional coffee shop open since 1985, serving traditional cake and pastry, classic sip of coffee, where you can recall your childhood memory.

The shelf put with varieties of cakes and pastry and it is self-service. Just choose your cake and put on the tray provided and pay at the counter.

Kim Leng Cafe keeping the old furnishing where you hardly see nowadays

The counter is furnished with the wooden cabinet.

Kuih Lapis, fruit butter cake, and marble cake is our favourite refreshment for tea-time.

A little bit blur of their shelf window ~ it is simple yet delicious Steam Egg cake, honey cake, and butter sponge cake.

My grand parent always looking for this kind of traditional cake nowadays. They said this is what a real cake should be and they complaint about nowadays "modern cake" just garnished with cream and mousse without giving a real bite of a real cake.

Soft bite of Chiffon Cake

The classic refreshment bites ~ kaya puff and the cream puff!

Kim Leng also serves the traditional Hainan-style bread, which is delicious for roasting.

Assorted bun and bread for your selection as well.

Chicken floss bun, sausage & cheese bun, burger bun!

The floor garnished with the vintage floor tile.

They baking cake for occasions too ~ many designs for your selection.

The front door isn't look grand, but there worth to explore inside!

Organic beancurd dessert serving inside!

Their famous drink is the white coffee ~ they used coffee bean that is not heavy roasted so the coffee looks pale and light brown. It tastes not strong and you may not like it if you are a bold coffee lover.
